There is nothing worse than losing your personal information to scammers and fraudulent people on the internet. In order to avoid such dangers, you need to use specialized tools. Today, we will be talking about anti-tracking features that can be used in your Microsoft Edge browser.

Learn more about tracking prevention

Many websites and hackers will try to obtain the information regarding your online habits. Your browser stores valuable information and exchanges information with websites that you visit frequently. This information is highly important for businesses and scammers.

People who track your browser will know which websites you visit the most and which devices you are using to surf the web. This information can be used by businesses to create ads that are designed to cater to your habits. While it seems like something not very menacing, you must remember that any personal information is linked to you in many ways and can lead to problems in the future.

Prevention of tracking is a very important part of online safety. Tracking prevention is a complex of measures that are aimed at stopping ad agencies and scammers from tracking your browsing data. Edge has a feature that will allow you to protect your browsing activities from spying. There are three levels that you can use: Basic, Balanced, and Strict.

As the names suggest, you will have very little, moderate, and aggressive protection from tracking correspondingly. As a default, your browser uses the Balanced option allowing some tracks, but not preventing tracking completely. Here’s how you can change it:

In the settings menu of the browser go to Privacy and Services;
– At the top of the list, you will find the Tracking Prevention submenu;
– In the new window, choose the option that suits your need the most;
– Add exceptions if you need to allow some websites to track you.

Basic level features

The basic scenario tells the browser to block harmful trackers and also block some scripts that will make your machine a cryptocurrency-mining zombie. However, all trusted businesses and companies will be able to track your activities online.

Balanced level features

This option will not only block all potentially threatening trackers but also prevent websites that you have not yet visited from tracking you.

Strict level features

The strict level is the harshest of them all. The browser will block virtually anything that can be tracking you. However, it may prevent you from accessing some websites or create problems with viewing some content.
