Google’s Chrome obviously uses Google as its default search engine. However, some users either don’t like Google or prefer to use specific search engines like those that are local to them or offer somewhat different features. If you like Bing or Yahoo and would much rather prefer using them when surfing the internet using the Chrome browser, you will need to follow several very simple steps.
This is how you change the default search engine in Chrome
01. Launch the browser.
02. Open the menu (three dots)
03. Go to “Settings”
04. Find the menu item called “Search Engine”
05. Open the drop down menu by clicking on it
06. Select from an array of suggested options including Bing, Yahoo!, and DuckDuckGo
What search engines to choose?
While there are some differences between search engines, the ultimate decision is up to you only. For example, Yahoo! is a good choice for old school internet users. Bing is similar to Google but can lead you to weird places and often shows websites that are either ignored or banned by Google. DuckDuckGo is another interesting alternative offering you a little bit more privacy and allowing you to block ads.
