How to Change Search Engines on MAC

Safari is the go-to browser for MAC users. It is a convenient browser that has all necessary features to provide a good user experience. However, some may not like the search engine that the OS uses as a default. You can reconfigure Safari and choose a searching website that perfectly suits your needs. Whether you are fan of Google, Bing, or Yahoo, you will be able to use whatever your prefer.

Let’s switch the preferred SE on Safari

You can conveniently modify the out-of-the-box search option and use the system that you like. In order to do so, you will need to follow these simple steps:

01.   Launch Safari

02.   Find the button captioned “Safari” (top left)

03.   Click on “Preferences” in the appeared list

04.   The new interface will be shown where you will need to find the tab called “Search”

05.   From the drop down menu select an option that suits your needs

06.   Click the image of red and black cross to save the changes

The procedure for Chrome for MAC

01.   Launch the browser.

02.   Click the three dots icon

03.   Go to “Settings”

04.   Find the menu block called “Search Engine”

05.   Expand the block by clicking on it

06.   Click the “Manage” button if you need to add something

07.   Find the button “Add” in the block “Other search engines”

08.   In the popped up frame, add the URL of the website and a keyword that will prompt the browser to use this system

09.   Select from a list of suggested systems including added SEs as well as Bing, Yahoo!, and DuckDuckGo

Working with Firefox for MAC

01.   Launch the browser

02.   Find the menu called “Firefox” situated in the corner to the left in the upper part of the tab

03.   Choose preferences in the dropdown index

04.   In the new tab find the menu option “Search”

05.   The dropdown list will feature multiple SE’s including Google, Amazon, eBay, Twitter, and Wikipedia

01.   Launch the browser

02.   Find the menu called “Opera” in the top left corner

03.   In the new dropdown list find Preferences

04.   Find the Search Engine section and expand the corresponding list of options

05.   Browse the list of options featuring most SE’s

06.   To insert more custom selections, you will need to visit the “Manage Search Engines” block

07.   Press the “Add” button in the lower area of the screen

08.   Name the option, add the keyword if necessary and enter the URL
