Many of us enjoy watching movies online from time to time, but don’t feel like paying for subscription services because of those rare occasions is a waste of money. Don’t worry – there are sites where you can do it for free! Not all of them are very safe, though. So, we’ve chosen the most trustworthy sites where you can enjoy a great selection of movies completely free! These are our top picks:

Crackle

All images and videos are copyrighted to their respective owners

In the past, it was simply Crackle, but then the free streaming service went through lots of renamings. It was originally managed only by Sony, and presently it shares Crackle with CSS. Despite several variations of the name, the site is most known as Crackle, so that’s what we’ll call it.

It combines movies from 6 CSS streaming services (Popcornflix, Popcornflix Kids, etc.) and some movies and TV shows produced by Sony.

The service operates thanks to ads, so it’s a fine way of watching movies for free, but you have to be prepared for regular interruptions. Crackle is available in 21 countries but the offerings for Canada, Latin America, and Australia have been eliminated.

IMDb TV

The service previously known as Freedive, is now called IMDb TV. This Amazon-owned streaming site has a number of TV shows and movies that you can watch for free, but they are ad-supported. At the beginning of this year, IMDb TV obtained more than 20 Disney-owned shows, for example, Desperate Housewives, Lost, etc. Many of them can be watched for free only here.

The choice of movies on this site is not too big, but it includes such famous movies as Memento, Drive, Donnie Darko, Dune, La La Land, and lots of others. For now, IMDb TV is available only in the US, but the company is now working on the European offering.

Vudu

You’ve probably heard about Vudu as a subscription service, but this Walmart-owned platform has a great variety of movies in their free content section, which, once again, operates thanks to ads. You can find stuff like 10,000 Days, The Offering, The Escort, and lots of others.

A Vudu account is still necessary even for the free section, but it’s free to create. You can use the app on many devices, including phones, but only in the US for now.

YouTube

All images and videos are copyrighted to their respective owners

Of course, you know what YouTube is. This largest video-hosting site that people use to watch other people play video games, cook, play with cats, etc. But there are many feature-length movies, too. And if you look closely, you’ll be able to find some excellent movies there.

It so often happens that you don’t see all available free movies, so if you don’t see the movie you’d like to watch, use the search. They might not be uploaded with the rightful owner’s permission, so sometimes the movie can be broken into several parts and then gathered into a playlist. But it’s free!

This way of watching free movies is getting increasingly difficult because YouTube is more careful with intellectual property. You can always buy a subscription, YouTube Premium, or YouTube TV, and enjoy the content without any troubles.

Vimeo

All images and videos are copyrighted to their respective owners

Vimeo is smaller than YouTube, but it’s still a great video-hosting platform. In some aspects, Vimeo is arguably better; namely, in terms of ads and the community, which is more professional and supportive.

Also, on this platform, you can find excellent original short and feature-length movies. There is an On-Demand segment: there you can buy films or TV shows. On Vimeo, you can watch not only what the site’s users created, but also the products of major studios. All this makes Vimeo a good place to search for something to watch for free.

The Roku Channel

All images and videos are copyrighted to their respective owners

The Roku Channel is a free service that was created by Roku, the subscription service. In the beginning, you had to purchase a streaming media device to use the ad-supported version. So, despite being quite cheap, it wasn’t free. Thankfully, this has changed, and now you can enjoy the Roku Channel through the web or the free app.

There are more than 10,000 movies and TV shows you can watch there, including good old Must Love Dogs, Police Academy, etc. It’s necessary to make a Roku account, but it won’t take too much time. There are more films to choose from if you decide to pay for a subscription, and you can do it anytime you want. You can enjoy the service in the US and Canada.
